Building Community Beyond the Barre

Melissa Stolze brought barre3 to St. Louis 11 years ago to build a healthy community.

"Barre3 is for everyone. Our diverse clientele includes teens, pre/postnatal, seniors, and more," explains Melissa Stolze, owner of the barre3 boutique fitness studio in Des Peres.

"Every class is different and designed to meet you where you are. We encourage everyone to listen to their bodies and modify their movements during the workout to fit their needs,  whether for recovery, strength-building, or cardio enhancement."

Barre3 is a Portland, Oregon based, woman-owned franchise with 165+ studios across the US. The workout is efficient and effective, combining strength, cardio, and mindfulness through low-impact isometric moves, cardio bursts, and breath work.

Melissa discovered barre3 after leaving a high-powered career in finance to focus on her family and pursue her passion for fitness. She has grown a community focused on inclusivity, encouragement, and empowerment.

Melissa's commitment to holistic health radiates through every plank, pulse, and posture she guides her clients through. "I love the workout and the props, but mostly, I love the people. It's all about building each other up." Instructors empower participants to find their limits and adjust as needed, not just for form correction but also to acknowledge their progress. The studio aims for everyone to leave feeling confident, mindful, and grounded.

Classes are offered multiple times daily, in 45- and 60-minute sessions to accommodate any schedule. In addition to the signature barre classes, strength training classes are available, and cardio-focused classes launch in January 2024. Amenities include showers, a locker room, towels, props, and a play lounge with childcare.

Celebrating its 11th year in January, barre3 invites participants to make a "commitment to self," emphasizing holistic well-being through movement and mindfulness. Exclusive perks throughout the month include breath work, guided meditations, conversations, and special events.

Melissa Stolze invites everyone to join barre3, encouraging them to be themselves, occupy space, and personalize their workout experience. The promise is a good workout that leaves you feeling empowered, balanced, and connected. Your first class is free. It's time for you.
