Matt Cox, realtor and father of two, gears up to welcome twins into the mix.

Fatherhood is often described as one of life’s greatest adventures, and for Matt Cox, it has been a whirlwind of love, laughter, and a bit of chaos. From the joy of everyday family moments to the anticipation of doubling his family size very soon, Matt’s story is one of gratitude, community, and the simple joys of life.

Before he started Cove and Key Real Estate, Matt worked as a pharmacist—a job that, while rewarding, had long hours and a rigid schedule. “One reason I switched careers was that as a pharmacist, my schedule was not flexible at all," said Matt. "I was working 10-hour shifts. We didn’t have kids yet, but I knew that if I continued that route I would be seeing my kids about 3 days a week."

Matt transitioned to real estate for the flexibility to be present at school events, playdates, and more. The empathy he developed as a pharmacist helps him guide clients through emotional highs and lows with the same care and understanding he gives his own children.

For Matt, the best part about being a dad of two young kids is the feeling of responsibility and love that comes with the role. “I think I’ve wanted to be a dad since I was a kid myself,” Matt reflected. “The best part is waking up every day knowing God has entrusted me with these kids to watch over, protect, provide for, and love.”

Life is about to change in a big way. Matt and his wife Brittany are expecting identical twin girls this summer. “There are so many exciting and terrifying emotions at the same time,” Matt admitted. The news came as a complete surprise, though Matt had a feeling something special was coming.

While visiting his parents in Texas last year for the Thanksgiving holiday, Matt had a dream that left him convinced something big was about to happen. In his dream, Brittany delivered twin girls. The next morning, he shared his dream with Brittany and days later at their doctor’s appointment, it was confirmed: they were having twins. A few months later, they learned they were having identical twin girls. As for what Matt is most nervous about? “Never. Sleeping. Again,” he joked, a sentiment many parents of newborns can relate to!

Matt and Brittany keep their young family busy with weekend visits to local coffee shops like Offset and Hi-Fi, as well as biking on the strand and scootering along the esplanade. They always look forward to local holiday traditions such as the Riviera Village Halloween Trick or Treat Event and the Holiday Stroll where Matt teams up with local businesses to hand out free coffee. “It’s one of my favorite events of the year,” said Matt. It affords him the opportunity to meet new people and connect with the community.

Community is just as meaningful to Matt in raising his young family as it is in growing his real estate business. He and his wife have developed a tight-knit group of friends they can lean on—support that will become even more valuable once the twins arrive. “The friends and community of people we have found here, that we are able to do life with, are amazing,” explained Matt. “Being able to raise our kids with our best friends, experiencing the highs and lows together, is more than I could have ever hoped for.”

Now Matt and Brittany are busy preparing their kids for the new additions to the family, and the kids are gearing up for the arrival of their twin sisters. They've already started practicing with stuffed animals, pretending to tuck in the “babies”, turning the sound machine on, and telling everyone to be quiet because the babies are sleeping.

Fatherhood has taught Matt a lot about himself, especially the importance of finding joy in the simple things. Whether it’s a quick hug before work or the excitement of coming home to play with his kids, those small moments have become the highlight of his day.

As he looks ahead to life with four kids, Matt is embracing the changes with a sense of humor and faith. He’s excited, a little nervous, but above all, incredibly grateful for the family he’s built and the twins on the way. “It’s the craziest and most wonderful thing I could ever have the experience of doing.”
