A Friendship that Sparked a Dream
Some of the best stories begin right next door. For Ashley Lindquist, one of the owners of Mama’s Happy in Maple Grove, it began with a simple prayer for neighbors her family could grow alongside. In 2022, that became reality when a family moved in beside them with children the same ages as hers, and a mom who, by chance, was also named Ashley.
What began as friendly waves between yards grew into a lasting friendship. The two Ashleys discovered a shared love for decorating, design, and meaningful community. “Over time we realized how much we both love creating,” Ashley says. “We dreamed about having a place where we could bring people together and inspire them.” That shared dream eventually led them to Mama’s Happy.
Carrying on a Beloved Legacy
Founded in 2010 by entrepreneur and creative spirit Amanda Ficek, Mama’s Happy began as a vintage shop filled with locally crafted artisan pieces and refinished furniture. Over time, the store became known for its charm and creativity. When Amanda decided to move south, she passed the opportunity to continue her beloved brand to others who shared her passion. The Ashleys stepped up to lead the Maple Grove location, honoring what Amanda built while expanding the vision to include experiences, events, workshops, and classes that bring people together in new and inspiring ways.
Their goal has always been that Mama’s Happy would be more than a store. “We have built an experience,” Ashley explains. “It is a place to slow down, be encouraged, and reconnect with what makes you happy.” The store has become an oasis, a welcoming escape where customers can pause, breathe, and rediscover joy in simple moments.
A Perfect Blend of Old and New
Step inside Mama’s Happy and you will understand why it is so loved. The space feels warm and inviting, filled with soft light, friendly faces, and beautifully arranged displays. Every corner tells a story. The boutique is a perfect blend of old and new, a thoughtfully curated mix of timeless vintage finds and fresh, modern pieces. Behind the scenes, a talented team of women refinishes and restores furniture with care, giving each piece new life and character.
Thoughtfully curated and effortlessly balanced, Mama’s Happy is where eclectic meets cohesive, and subtle details stand boldly beside timeless charm. The atmosphere is calm yet energizing, with every display designed to inspire creativity and spark ideas. “When people walk through our doors, we want them to feel more than just welcomed. We want them to feel at home,” Ashley says. “There is a sense of ease that fills the space.”
Creating Together, Celebrating Together
Mama’s Happy also offers interior decorating and styling services, along with workshops, seasonal events, and private gatherings throughout the year. Each class and event is designed to nurture creativity and connection, giving guests the chance to create something beautiful while forming meaningful friendships. “We are always in the midst of dreaming and planning,” Ashley says. “There is always something new around the corner.”
During the holidays, that spirit shines brighter than ever. The store transforms into a festive retreat adorned with bows, gold accents, greenery, and warm candlelight. Popular events like Ladies Night Out and the Holiday Sip & Shop bring women together for laughter and inspiration, filling the space with joy and holiday cheer.
Rooted in the heart of Main Street, Mama’s Happy continues to embody creativity, connection, and care. The team loves collaborating with other local businesses and celebrating Maple Grove’s thriving community. As the owners put it, “We are here to make your home and your heart a little more happy.”
