Christmas Sugar Cookies

A family recipe just for the holidays.

It's time to set out that tray of milk and cookies for Santa, so why not treat him to something homemade. Here is another Ellsworth family recipe to add to your traditions.

Ingredients:

  • 3 1/4 cups of flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Directions:

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2: Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt.

Step 3: In a mixing bowl cream together the butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla for two minutes.

Step 4: Add sour cream and half of the dry ingredients, mix well.

Step 5: Stir in remaining ingredients with a wooden spoon.

Step 6: Divide the dough and roll to 1/4 inch thick cookies. Bake 8-10 minutes. Do not over bake, you shouldn't see any browning on the cookies. Once cool, frost cookies as desired.
