FAIRFIELD FOOD FAVES

Curated by Fairfield Native, Victoria Fingelly

When it comes to finding great food in Fairfield, you don’t have to look far—the choices are plentiful! This is why we love hearing from our community on everything from tried-and-true favs to hidden gems. So, when Fairfield native, Victoria Fingelly, the Managing Director of Higgins Group Southport Harbor Brokerage, offered to share her coveted list, we were all ears…--

AURORA’S

When heading out with family and friends for a relaxing evening with great food, Aurora’s is it! Located in Fairfield center, this husband and wife led bistro welcomes everyone as family and proceeds to serve up a wide variety of small plates and generously portioned entrees. I especially like the freshness and wide selection of well-prepared dishes. Aurora’s always surprises with interesting daily specials in addition to their ample menu offerings. aurorasfairfield.com

GRAY GOOSE

When I am looking for a slightly less formal go-to Southport eatery with consistently innovative, great food, a widely varied menu, and a lively crowd I head straight to the “Goose”. An experienced staff provides excellent service and makes everyone feel welcome. Lovely indoor and terrace dining options and the front porch and bar area are the places to be for Happy Hour! Best to make a reservation as it is always busy at the Goose. Fantastic Brunch as well! thegraygoosecafe.com

LUIGI’S

What better way to spend a Friday night than enjoying pizza (onions and peppers, please), a family-style salad (don’t forget the gorgonzola) and a carafe of wine at Luigi’s? Luigi’s is my favorite for pizza, but it doesn’t stop there. Pasta, chicken and veal dishes, seafood, salads—Luigi’s does it all. And they do it very well. Owner Giulio Cavalli and his wife make sure everyone feels very much at home at their comfortable and elegant trattoria. Plenty of great food and wine and super friendly staff have always kept me coming back. luigisfairfield.com

TEQUILA REVOLUCION

When I’m shaking my head about what to make for dinner, I place my online order with Tequila Revolucion … Tequila Chicken Fajitas and Carne Asada Yucateca, add a well-deserved tip, then swing by for pick up on my way home. One of the best Mexican restaurants in Connecticut, if not the BEST, Tequila Revolucion specializes in authentic dishes: fajitas, tacos, enchiladas—all of my favorites. Whatever dish you decide to order, one thing’s for sure, the food will be made with fresh, quality ingredients and flavors that are consistent and delicious. tequilarevolucionff.com

THAI KIT FAIRFIELD

Having returned from a recent trip to Southeast Asia, I was delighted to discover Thai Kit. With food on par with any rival, Thai Kit presents authentic, traditional Thai cuisine.  In a modest storefront setting, the inviting interior and warmth of the staff keep me coming back. I especially love the lime chili chicken and vegetable pancake. The Pad Thai and curries are outstanding and the nasi goreng (spicy rice dish with tofu and egg) is delicious!  The warm, welcoming staff is passionate about the food they serve, and they truly create sumptuous fare. thaikitfairfield.com

HORSESHOE CAFE

For many of us locals, a rite of passage was our first visit to” The Shoe”. That was sooo long ago! During my wonderful Nicholas Fingelly Real Estate years, it was an unwritten law that any sale of importance was celebrated with “drinks at The Shoe and everyone tried to show up for the fun! Fairfield’s version of Cheers, The Shoe serves up great pub fare in a tavern atmosphere and is an ideal gathering place for friends after work.  Open mic and music performances are featured every Monday night. horseshoecafesouthport.com
