At Immaculate Heart Academy, health and wellness are top priorities for our students. Throughout the school day, a variety of activities are designed to support both the mental and physical well-being of our community. In addition to traditional physical education and fitness classes, students have access to state-of-the-art sports equipment and an on-site fitness and sports coordinator. By blending physical fitness with holistic health practices, Ms. Shemayne Williams, IHA’s physical education teacher, says, "We strive to equip students with the tools to not only succeed in physical education but also to build lifelong habits for well-being, balance, and resilience."
In addition to the core curriculum, students have also taken the initiative to create the Fitness at The Heart Club, a group dedicated to fostering a love for fitness and wellness. Club president Elisabeth Tralongo '26 shares, "The Fitness Club inspires girls to connect on both a physical and emotional level, empowering and encouraging every member. Starting this club has been a beautiful way to work out together while sharing in each other's lives!" The club meets regularly after school for group workouts or meditation sessions, helping students establish a healthy relationship with fitness that will benefit them throughout their lives.
The school’s Guidance Department also plays a vital role in promoting a culture of wellness by offering programs focused on mental health. Wellness Wednesdays at IHA provide students with opportunities to engage in activities such as yoga, meditation, therapy dog visits, and guest speakers who address key mental health topics.
Immaculate Heart Academy offers an environment where young women can grow academically, emotionally, and spiritually. Our students thrive in a setting that encourages academic excellence, artistic exploration, athletic achievement, and Christian service. The quality of our programs, the excellence of our facilities, and the success of our students reflect the unique and holistic education we provide.
