I’ve hosted Thanksgiving more than a handful of times, and once for 17 people while six months pregnant with the flu (the fever spiked while I mashed the potatoes — really).
Despite that year, I enjoy entertaining, especially throughout the holiday season. I thrive on creating pretty tablescapes and special place settings for the kids, and while I feel proud to cook the meal, I don’t feel excited to clean afterward.
Cue the holiday catering. Why not make this year’s holiday dinner less hectic with a little help from the pros?
TURKEY
I’ve had delicious turkeys from Stew Leonards but the best is an organic turkey from The Outpost in Bedford Village. Owner John Ubaldo is a Pound Ridge native and his fresh (never frozen) turkeys are from his very own John Boy’s Farm. The turkeys are field and woods-raised, and fed only non-GMO grains. Call to inquire and order well in advance.
SIDES
I’m a longtime fan of Susan Lawrence in Chappaqua. For Thanksgiving, menu offerings include traditional accompaniments, as well as special sides like Truffle Cream Spinach and Oven Roasted Harvest Vegetables. After a short reheat at home, transferring to your own serving dishes is easy as pie. Which brings me to…..
DESSERT
Susan Lawrence offers a wide assortment of artisanal pies, hand decorated butter cookies, and beautifully decorated cakes. So join me in saying ‘yes’ to holiday catering and we’ll finally be able to sit down and enjoy dinner at the same time as everyone else. Happy Thanksgiving!
