Magnolia Family Welcomes Spring

Premier senior luxury resort’s residents and staff are ready to spring ahead to what’s to come.

The residents of Magnolia by the Lakes Independent and Assisted Senior Resort had many indoor activities this winter, such as watching ice boats and skaters glide across glistening ice over the waters of Cass and Sylvan Lakes, drinking hot cocoa by the warm and cozy fireplace with friends and getting ready for the arrival of spring. Now that February is over, and March starts the blossoming of spring flowers, Magnolia residents excitedly await the blooming of the many beautiful magnolia trees.

Located in the heart of Oakland County and situated between two of the county’s most beautiful lakes (Cass Lake and Sylvan Lake), Magnolia by the Lakes, a family-owned independent and assisted senior resort, prides itself on offering a luxury lifestyle at prices seniors can afford. Founder, President and CEO of Magnolia by the Lakes, Dr. Farideh R. Bagne, established the lakeside resort with one goal in mind: to offer an exceptional lifestyle full of love, laughter and friendship to seniors in the autumn of their lives.

To Dr. Bagne and her staff, the health and safety of seniors are paramount. Magnolia tested residents and staff on a weekly basis for Covid-19, and as soon as the vaccine became available, Dr. Bagne established a Covid-19 clinic at Magnolia whereby all residents, caregivers and staff were vaccinated. As of early February, they all received the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

With this vaccination and appropriate precautions, Magnolia by the Lakes’ residents are able to resume the  majority of Magnolia’s social activities, including elaborate theme dinner parties. Each month, residents are invited to dress up and join the rest of the Magnolia family in celebrating and experiencing the customs and cuisine of diverse cultures. In the past, Magnolia presented the culture of different countries; this year, however, they will be concentrating on various states in the US, including Louisiana, Texas, Hawaii, California and Illinois.

Dr. Bagne explained that these celebrations have always been fun for residents as many have spent a good portion of their lives outside of Michigan and even out of the US. The menu for these dinner parties, as well as for daily meals, are prepared by Magnolia’s five-star chefs, who not only handcraft each meal they serve but also tailor meals to meet the needs of those on specific diets.

At Magnolia, residents enjoy spending time at the Old World, European-style Village Square, which is a gathering place surrounded by flowers, trees and a bronze fountain. Here, they can enjoy pastries from a French bakery, gelato from an Italian-style ice cream shop, Guinness from the Irish Pub and more. Also located in this area is a universal chapel, a beauty salon and barber shop and two beautiful guest suites where residents’ guests can stay the night. The Village Square can be reserved for residents’ special celebrations, including birthdays, holidays and family gatherings. “We can provide the tableware and drinks, and food can be brought in, or residents can assist our chefs in preparing a special menu,” explained Dr. Bagne.

In addition to its fitness center and jetted pool, Magnolia provides a daily activity calendar that includes multiple activities each day throughout all four seasons. The warmer spring and summer weather, however, provides even more possibilities for residents, including walks in the Magnolia’s courtyard, playing golf at its private, nine-hole mini-golf course and boat rides on a private pontoon. Another popular activity is observing the spectacular sunsets from Magnolia’s elegant, climate-controlled Harbor Walk where residents not only relax surrounded by marble Italian statues and live plants but sip mimosas while watching the spectacular sunsets of the majestic Cass Lake.

Magnolia by the Lakes offers on-site 24/7 private duty care provided by Mt. Everest Caring, LLC. This independent company provides and coordinates private duty ancillary services, including resident checks; hospice assistance; laundry; help with showering, dressing and personal hygiene; medication reminders; incontinence assistance; and morning and evening grooming. Residents also have the choice to hire caregivers from other companies.

Opening this May, Magnolia will have on-campus physical therapy for those residents requiring this service. The Physical Therapy Clinic will be operated by independent licenced physical therapists. The clinic will be conveniently located on the northwest side of campus.

“Whether our residents reside at our Magnolia South Independent Resort or choose a life with a more supportive environment at Magnolia North Assisted Living Resort, we promise to love them, keep them safe, lift up their spirits and care for them with the dignity and respect they deserve today, tomorrow and all the days beyond,” Dr. Bagne said.

Magnolia by the Lakes is located at 1700 (Magnolia South) and 1701 (Magnolia North) Cass Lake Road in Keego Harbor (Oakland County), Michigan. To learn more or schedule a tour, call (248)-681-8000 or visit MagnoliabytheLakes.com.
