She Said, "He Shed"

She Said

He Shed

My wife, Myles, and I purchased a new home last summer. Although this home did not have the basement we wanted, the home itself and the large backyard gave us the wow factor.

Within this large backyard, there was a small shed building. There was nothing fancy about it. It was a place to keep the lawn mower and patio cushions dry. However, it was equipped with electricity and the ability to tap into a water line (in the long run, this saved us a ton of money). Mutually we agreed without even tossing a coin, the shed would be a "He Shed" not a ‘She Shed’ or a playhouse for our 3-year-old daughter, Drew.

We didn’t really have a blueprint for ideas, so we did online searches and looked at a number of design ideas on Pinterest. We knew that we wanted a bar inside, so that is pretty much where our search began. We came across Jeff Packer with Cowboy Builds, LLC on Facebook. Jeff is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to creating custom pieces for any room in your home. He’s also responsible for our laundry room makeover; that’s another article. Jeff custom-built and installed the bar (sink and shelving), the wall shelves and the chalkboard frame.

Along with Jeff, we hired a local contractor, Mark Cole. Mark is an all-around handyman. He installed the drywall, rewired the entire unit, did the plumbing, painting and installed the lighting.

Along with help from YouTube, my wife and I installed the flooring, mounted the TV, installed the A/C unit and other odds jobs to complete the project. With my wife’s eye for interior design, the "He Shed" offers a multi-wood palette bar accessorized with bar stools with bicycle pedals, a cowhide rug, a vintage bull head that hangs above the double doors, mahogany wood pub table and stools, and three leather bar stools around the room. The TV is equipped with surround sound and Bluetooth-enabled speakers for your music-listening pleasure. It is also fully equipped with Wi-Fi, so friends and family can also surf the internet while enjoying the atmosphere while watching football!

After three months from the initial idea and placing a timeline and budget on the project, the "He Shed" aka Logan’s Liquor Lounge was created. For us, we wanted an eclectic vibe with an upscale yet approachable and cool bar experience/setting that would create a great start or end to any night, footsteps away from our backdoor!

We did it!
