The Art of Custom Jewelry Design

Greeley’s Most Trusted Jeweler for Generations Past, Present, and Future

In the early 20th century, the Weiss family became a trusted name for quality, custom-made jewelry in Greeley. Today, Scott and Alex Rettmer, 4th and 5th generation owners of Weiss Jewelers, have upheld the long-standing tradition that the Weiss family began as a business that Greeley can trust and a family that celebrates life’s big moments with you.

Scott and Alex say, “As customers walk through the doors of Weiss Jewelers, they become a part of the family.” This tradition, however, is a long standing one. The Rettmers have customers walk through their doors whose great grandmother, grandmother, and mother alike have purchased their wedding rings at Weiss Jewelers. Generations of families continue to return to Weiss Jewelers because of the trusted name that it carries in the community and the opportunities for custom-made pieces. Even the familial celebrations that accompany every special purchase, at times, includes the perfect bottle of Dom Perignon or Bourbon from Scott and Alex’s eclectic collection. Alex states, “As large as Greeley has become, our business brings Greeley back to its roots -- good people, better service.”

While most people know that Weiss Jewelers is a name they can trust, few people realize its reach. Since 2019 when Scott and Alex purchased the business from the Weiss family, they have worked to innovate to meet the needs of new and old customers alike. Today, not only does Weiss continue its long-standing tradition of custom-made, unique, and one-of-a-kind pieces; they also have a magnificent estate selection and one of the largest Rolex watch collections in Colorado. Further, customers can bring in jewelry they have to either repurpose it or create something entirely new. “You can make a pendant, combine two heirloom pieces to make one you love or make old pieces like new.”

But beyond innovative services and uniquely crafted items, it is pivotal to the Rettmers that the generational traditions withstand the test of time. Alex states, “We want to make custom pieces that endure, the same way we have for the last 106 years.” Nearly every day, the Rettmers create a custom piece of jewelry or engagement ring that families can treasure for the next century.

The art that is custom jewelry design goes untouched by any other family name in Greeley. The Rettmers hope to continue the long-standing legacy of designing custom made pieces, introducing innovative new markets, and prioritizing their one-of-a-kind heirloom collection to continue to help you celebrate all of life’s big moments.
